Proclamations

Proclamations recognize a day, week or month in awareness of a cause, issue or occasion. The intention of a proclamation is to honor, celebrate, or create awareness of an event or significant issue.

• Proclamations requests must be received at least two weeks before the date needed.
• New requests must be made each year—proclamations are not annually renewed.
• Requests must come from City of Chester residents.
• Recipients should live or have lived in the City of Chester.

Issuance does not indicate or imply a policy endorsement from the City of Chester, Mayor, or Council.

Citations

Citations recognize a specific achievement or milestone, such as a milestone anniversary or birthday, retirement, significant contribution to the community, or similar achievement.

• All requests must be received at least two weeks before the print date.
• Limited to one citation per individual / entity per year

Greeting Letters

Mayor Roots issues greeting letters for significant events held in the City of Chester, either to be printed in programs or read aloud. Such events include banquets, conferences, festivals, reunions, etc.

Condolence Letters

Mayor and Council also send condolence letters to the families of Chester residents who have passed away, which may be read aloud during the funeral service.
