City of Chester’s 100th Mother’s Day Parade to Feature Mummers Parade Performers

 

(CHESTER, PA) – The City of Chester’s 100th Mother’s Day Parade presented by John A. Watts Lodge, Number 224 will be held on Sunday, May 14 at 2:00pm.

 

To commemorate the centennial year, event organizers secured nearly three-dozen performers including, Mummers Parade participants; Aqua String Band, Uptown String Band and the Clevemore Fancy Brigade.  The parade will also feature a car show, music, marching bands and step and drill teams.  Local premiere appearances include, the Chester High School Marching Band, the Xinos and Kudos Youth step team and the Bennett High Steppers drill team.  

 

The City of Chester, local businesses, churches and individual sponsors combined resources to assist with the production of the parade. Many entities contributed monetary contributions.  The City of Chester’s Department of Parks and Recreation will donate a performance stage, tables and chairs, and secure other performers that will include Disney characters and a disc jockey.  The City of Chester’s Streets Department will ensure that all street closures are complete and assist with cleanup operations after the parade has ended.  The Chester Police Department will provide security for the entire parade.

 

The parade will depart from the 7th Street Basketball courts located at 7th and Penn Streets at approximately 2:00pm.   Performers will then travel westbound along 7th Street, en route to the Grandstand location near Union Street (between 3rd and 4th and Yarnall Streets).     

 

Parade Route:

  • 7th and Penn Streets
  • Travel westbound to 7th and Engle Streets
  • Turn left onto Engle Street
  • Turn left onto 6th Street
  • Turn right onto Yarnall Street
  • End at Union Street (Between 3rd and 4th and Yarnall Streets)

 

Parade attendees can enjoy the entertainment by lining the sidewalks along the parade route.  Vendors with food, toy carts, and balloons will be situated at various locations.  

 

Attendees are reminded to stay on the sidewalks or behind barricades or rope cutoffs wherever located.
