City of Chester to Offer 5K Reward for Information Leading to Arrest & Conviction of Suspect Who Shot Woman & 5 Year Old Girl
(CHESTER, PA) – Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland and Commissioner Otis Blair today announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for shooting a woman and a 5-year-old girl.
The shooting incident, which injured a 67-year-old woman and the 5-year-old girl, took place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the 200 block of Lloyd Street. According to Chester police officials, both victims sustained gunshot wounds.
Both Mayor Kirkland and Commissioner Otis Blair visited the injured victims at Crozer-Chester Medical Center shortly after the incident took place.
“These are our babies and we are going to do everything humanly possible to make sure they don’t become a statistic because of some foolish act of violence,” said Mayor Kirkland.
Officer Jeffrey Walls, a one-year police veteran of the department is credited with applying a tourniquet to the leg of the 5-year-old girl prior to being transported to the hospital. “Officer Walls’ effort is a testament to the training and dedication that this department has to the community,” said Commissioner Blair. “Fortunately there were no fatalities, however senseless acts of violence in our community, especially involving innocent, precious children will not be tolerated.”
The mother of the 5-year-old girl was informed of the city’s decision to offer a reward and hopes it will assist in bringing the suspect to justice.
Police officials are actively following up on several leads.
