City of Chester to Hold Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at Eyre Park/Levee Walk
City officials will unveil the completion of a new section of the Chester Creek Trail in Eyre Park known as the Levee Walk; the construction of this trail was made possible because of more than $400K worth of funding from several agencies.
(CHESTER, PA) – The city of Chester will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the completion of a trail project at Eyre Park/Levee Walk along the Chester Creek Trail, on Monday, March 29 at 11 a.m.
The ceremony will highlight upgrades and renovations made to the site.
The project, which cost approximately $442,782 to complete, was funded by a
Community Development Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; the Coastal Resources Management Program by way of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection; and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission through a grant from the William Penn Foundation.
Event speakers will include Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland, Councilwoman Elizabeth Williams, Director of Parks, Recreation and Public Property, and Lizzie Hessek, Program Manager for the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. Several other city officials, personnel from the City’s Parks Department, and representatives from other agencies that made the project possible are expected to attend.
