City of Chester Council Meeting Closed to Public, Meeting to be Live Streamed on Facebook 

In response to the nationwide mitigation efforts to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Chester City Hall will be closed to the general public until March 30.  All public meetings will be live streamed on the city’s Facebook Page. 

 

(CHESTER, PA) –)   The city of Chester will hold its Deliberative Meeting on Monday, March 23 at 2:00pm and its Council Meeting on Wednesday, March 25 at 10:00am as scheduled.

 

As a precautionary measure, and in accordance with federal recommendations outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the White House and several other agencies, of avoiding gatherings of 10 or more people and practicing social distancing, the general public will not be permitted to attend these meetings.

 

“Myself and the rest of Council recognize that these restrictions are not ideal,” said Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland. “However, our goal is to follow the advice given to us to ensure that the city of Chester is doing everything it can to help stop the spread of COVID-19.”

The Council Meeting’s agenda will be posted to the City’s website and Facebook page on Tuesday, March 24.

 

Residents who wish to provide a public comment can submit their comment via email starting March 19 until 9:45am on March 25.  Any person submitting a public comment must include the same information that is requested at a public meeting.  This information includes a person’s name and address.

Any resident that does not have access to email can call in their public comment.  Public comments accepted via phone will be accepted at the start of Council Meeting on March 25 until the meeting is adjourned. Persons calling in their comment must provide their full name and address.

All public comments will be read into record during the meeting.  Chester City Councilmembers will offer a response to these comments, if warranted.

 

If a public comment is received without the requested information or if the comment is deemed inappropriate it will not be read into record or accepted as an official submission.
