City Holds Parking Plan Informational Meeting, Phase 1 to Rollout December 31
(CHESTER, PA) – On Thursday, November 15, 2018 the City of Chester’s Planning Department held an informational meeting to detail the city’s comprehensive parking plan.
During the meeting representatives from the city’s parking partnership provided an overview of the parking plan.
Attendees were shown a smart parking meter, similar to the meters that will be installed in the city. Additionally, those in attendance received brochures detailing the parking plan, payment options and project elements.
The parking plan will be implemented during three phases. Phase 1 is scheduled to go LIVE on December 31, 2018. This phase will encompass the Widener University area. During Phase 1 there will be a two-week grace period that will allow for persons affected to become familiar with the changes. Parking enforcement will begin January 14, 2019.
Residents living in areas impacted by the parking meters can enroll in the Residential Permit Program. For information on how to apply for a residential parking permit, please contact the city’s Planning Department at (610) 447- 7707.
Phase 2 and 3 of the parking plan will include the installation of smart parking meters in the city’s Central Business District, a new lot at 5th and Sproul Streets, and upgrades to the city’s municipal lots.
THINGS TO KNOW:
- Phase 1 will go LIVE on December 31, 2018
- There will be a two-week grace period before parking enforcement efforts begin
- Parking enforcement for Phase 1 will began January 14, 2019
- Smart Parking Meters accept coins or debit/credit cards
- Pango Parking APP is available for smart phone users who elect to pay by phone
- Basic rates will be $2.00/hr with options for day rates
- Residents will have to prove residency
- Each residence will be issued no more than two (2) parking permits
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Smart Parking Meters will be installed in the Widener University, the city’s Central Business District and municipal lots
- Traffic patterns may be altered during installation process
- Parking enforcement officers will begin monitoring meters
Details for the other two phases will be released closer to their respective rollout dates.
