Countywide Stay-At-Home/Shelter-In-Place Order: IN EFFECT

            By order of Governor Wolf, the Stay-At Home Order has been extended until April 30th. ALL residents of Delaware County are to remain in their homes. You may continue to work if your employer is a life-sustaining business. Residents are only allowed to leave their homes for trips to food markets, doctor appointments and any other necessary outings. While out, practice the principles of Social Distancing.

Testing

            Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus wishing to be tested should contact their primary care physician. If you do not have a primary care physician, contact the Crozer Hotline at 610-447-6730.

Universal Masking

            The CDC and Governor Wolf now recommend that the general public wear a basic cloth mask anytime they leave their home for life-sustaining reasons. Residents of Delaware County can now submit a Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) potential exposure report. Schools & Daycares

By order of the State’s Education Secretary, all Pennsylvania schools are closed through the rest of the academic year. Daycares are to remain closed until further notice.

Food Delivery for Seniors

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The County of Delaware Services for the Aging (COSA) and Community Transit are partnering to offer seniors an alternative to in-person grocery shopping. Community Transit drivers are available to get grocery lists and payment from seniors and shop and deliver their items. Seniors can stay safely in their homes. The cost of the shopping and delivery will be subsidized by COSA. To contact Community Transit for this service, please call 215-900-2519 or email GroceryDropOff@CTDelco.org

City Basketball Courts & Playgrounds

            All city of Chester Parks are officially closed to the public. In effort to minimize social gatherings in our parks, all basketball court rims will be removed.  Residents who wish to exercise or walk in these areas can do so.  However, everyone should continue to practice social distancing during any outdoor activity. 

Public Transportation

The Wilmington/Newark regional rail line, which services the Chester Transportation Center, and Bus Routes 37, 118 and 119 have been suspended. Bus Routes 109, 113, 114, 117 are operating on an “Enhanced Saturday” Schedule. Riders are to board buses and trolleys from the rear door. On board payments are suspended. Riders with disabilities can still board through the front of the bus. SEPTA is also limiting the amount of riders on board to further promote social distancing.

All Non-Life-Sustaining Businesses To Close

            By order of Governor Wolf, only businesses that are classified as “life-sustaining” are permitted to operate. Non-life sustaining businesses are to remain closed. The deadline for non-life sustaining businesses to apply for a waiver expired April 10th. To report a noncompliant business, contact the city of Chester Emergency Operations Center at (610) 447-7765 Monday – Friday from 8:30A.M. to 4P.M. Please do not call 911 to file reports.

City of Chester Government Operations

City Hall – City Hall will be closed to the general public for the month of April.

Meetings – All public meetings will be live streamed on the city’s Facebook Page.
