Workforce Development Center

Following its official establishment in late 2005, Chester Workforce Development Center (CWDC) has emerged as the source for information on jobs and training opportunities for Chester residents in the City. Mr. Robert L. Wrease, Jr., workforce coordinator for the center, is available to meet with individuals to assess potential barriers to employment, how to prepare for an interview, and critique resumes. He also gives presentations, such as Job Search 101, Bring Your "A Game" to an interview, and a Career and Education Matching game. The center is linking residents with services and resources to help them find the kind of job that best fits their needs. This summer the Job Readiness Guide, a directory of available social service programs and educational resources, was released to assist the Chester community and area residents in finding a job.

Since 2007, more than 900 City residents took advantage of the services offered by the Center, 400 of them for the first time.  More than 6,000 job related mailings were distributed to Chester households informing them of job fairs and other special programs or opportunities.  The Chester Workforce Development Center is a direct reflection of the City's commitment to making sure that  residents get what they need to participate directly in the economic revitalization of Chester.
