October 18, 2008 - Driving Away the Cold
This year the City of Chester is once again teaming up with Operation Warm and the Chester City Coat Distribution Collaborative to hold its Driving Away the Cold event on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Service providers in Chester City will work collaboratively to distribute 2,800 coats to the children of Chester, which have been solely sponsored by Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation (ADCK). Driving Away the Cold will take place in the Community Room at City Hall from 9:00 – 11:00 am, kicking off with remarks from Mayor Butler. In addition to coat distribution, a there will be a number of kid-friendly activities to encourage healthy living.
Registration for the event is required, September 15 through September 30, 2008. Final registration will be on October 1, 2008.
October, 21, 2008 - Informational Meeting - Concord Rd. Bridge Replacement Project
Chester residents are invited to an informational meeting where they can learn more about the Concord Road over SEPTA Bridge Replacement Project. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Chester City Hall, Community Room, 1 Fourth Street, Chester, Pennsylvania. Representatives from PennDOT and Gannett Fleming will provide an overview of the project and a presentation of the planned construction. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

October 22, 2008 - Pink Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Chester will be holding Pink Day on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. A proclamation reading will take place at the 10:00 am council meeting in council chambers. Residents are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause.
Breast Cancer Awareness merchandise, including tee shirts, polo shirts and car magnets, is available for purchase. See display in Chester City Hall lobby to view mechanize; to purchase, visit front lobby desk.
All proceeds will be donated to Crozer Chester Regional Cancer Center.

October 22, 2008 - Building Code Meeting
The City of Chester is holding an informational meeting that will explain the established building codes, laws and regulations for the City. The open meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Chester City Hall in the Community Room located at 1 Fourth Street, Chester, Pennsylvania. Property owners and contractors are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn the City's requirements that concern the construction, maintenance, operation, occupancy, use, and/or appearance of any property or living space in the City of Chester.
The meeting will also provide the opportunity to ask questions about the City's building codes and occupancy requirements and speak with officials from the Department of Licenses and Inspections about any concerns or questions you may have. October 30, 2008 - "Help is Here Express" bus tour
The "Help is Here Express" bus tour will be in Chester, stopping at the Chester City Hall to help uninsured and financially-struggling Chester residents access information on programs that provide prescription medicines for free or nearly free. The bus tour is part of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). Patients can also learn about new medicines in development to fight chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and asthma.
When the "Help is Here Express" moves on, patients can visit PPA's easy-to-use website (www.pparx.org) or call the toll-free phone number (1-888-4PPA-NOW) where trained operators field calls in 150 languages.
The "Help is Here Express" bus, also known as the Montel Bus, will be in Chester on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 2:30-5:30 pm Chester City Hall, located at 1 Fourth Street, Chester, Pennsylvania.
