Floyd C. Lewis III - Chief of Police

Floyd C. Lewis III is the City of Chester’s Chief of Police. He is responsible for the overall operation of the Police Department which consists of 96 sworn and 8 non-sworn employees. He has been active in law enforcement for over thirty years.

He began his law enforcement career in the Chester Police Department in 1973, rising to the rank of Chief of Police in 2008. He is a graduate of Penn State University (Associates Degree) and Cheyney State University (Bachelors Degree).

He has received numbers awards from citizen groups and civic organizations. Chief Lewis is a member of the following organizations: Fraternal Order of Police - Lodge 19, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He also serves on the Deacon and Trustee Boards at Community Baptist Church.

On February 13, 2008 Chief Lewis presented the Life Saving Award to Officer Marilyn Lee, who on October 8, 2007 rushed an injured man in her patrol vehicle to the hospital.
