Pennsylvania Weed & Seed is an initiative adopted by the Rendell Administration and Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to assist Pennsylvania communities in fighting back against drugs, crimes, and poverty, to restore neighborhood quality of life. Weed & Seed is a community based program that strives to prevent, control and reduce violence, crime, and drug activity in designated, high-crime neighborhoods. Weed & Seed relies on the collaboration of partnering organizations, law faith groups, and citizens.
Program Overview
This program is initiative of the City of Chester with funding provided by the City of Chester through the Governor's office and Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to assist the target areas in Chester: Highland Gardens, Wellington Ridge, Buckman Village, West 9th Street, and Highland Avenue. The name describes two critical components: Weeding out the violent offenders in high crime areas, and then Seeding the neighborhood with prevention, intervention, treatment, and revitalization services.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life in Chester Weed Seed target areas and directly impact the surrounding community. We strive to retain community residents and draw new residents that have a shared vision of the community: safe, peaceful, crime free, attractive, prosperous, and conducive to the healthy development of children and families.
